Jan 13, 2025 - FASSelangor FC managed to paint the MBPJ Stadium Red & Yellow after a 1-0 victory against Klang Valley Derby rivals, Kuala Lumpur City FC, yesterday.
As early as the 4th minute of the match, Faisal Halim made an attempt that almost opened his first goal after his comeback but the ball went over the bar. Selangor FC and Kuala Lumpur City FC started the match by applying pressure after pressure in the first half, but no goal penetrated the goals for both teams. In the second half, the Red Giants' winger, Alvin Fortes, managed to score the only goal of the Klang Valley derby this time, after the opposing team tried to clear Mukhairi Ajmal's attempted shot fell right at the feet of Alvin Fortes, and he hit the back of the net in the 63rd minute of the match. At the end of the #SFCKLC action, the opposing team made attempt after attempt but luck was on our team's side. The match ended with a result of 1-0.
According to Selangor FC head coach, Katsuhito Kinoshi, he is happy with the victory but wants the team to continue to work hard for the next match.
“I am very satisfied with the result, but we must move forward and have a good training session for the next three matches against Penang FC. For me, this is a team effort, and I would like to congratulate my players, including those who were unable to play today.”
“Regarding the position changes, as a coach, sometimes we have to make some adjustments to suit the players’ abilities. For example, in yesterday’s match, Nikola Jambor played as a centre-back. Sometimes during the match, I also made some changes. This is just a tactical decision.”
“We will always learn from every match we play, aiming to improve and delight the fans with our performances. This is our mission.”
From the #SFCKLC match in the 2024/25 Super League match yesterday, several important things can be seen, such as:-
Faisal Halim, team captain and MOTM of the Klang Valley Derby
The team’s winger, Faisal, successfully made a ‘comeback’ after the acid attack he went through. Yesterday, he was given the trust to take on the responsibility of team captain. He performed brilliantly yesterday with several tries, making him the best choice for MOTM in this Klang Valley Derby match.
Alvin Fortes keeps his fierce streak alive
Fortes has scored in three consecutive 2024/25 Super League matches including in yesterday's Klang Valley Derby. He is one of the pillars of the Red Giants' attack line who is always involved in every attack. In total, he has scored 8 goals.
The Selangor FC management would like to thank the fans who turned the MBPJ Stadium Red and Yellow yesterday. We greatly appreciate your support.
This week Selangor FC will face Penang FC in the 2024/25 Challenge Cup Semi-Final match on 19 January at the Penang City Stadium at 8:30 pm.
